Arriving in Punta Cana
Punta Cana (PUJ) airport is the leading airport for most inbound international traffic in the Dominican Republic. Most passengers will be international traffic and will pass through either the A or B terminal.
Before departing the plane, you will be asked to fill out some paperwork for immigration. Fill that out and hand it and your passport to the immigration officer. Then go through customs.
After that, it’s a matter of collecting your luggage. Then you’re free to explore the rest of the Punta Cana Airport.
Airport Services and Amenities
The 24-hour airport offers a host of amenities for your visit. Some of the standard amenities available include currency exchange, duty-free shopping, ATMs, and free wifi. There is also a food court that offers chain fast food options as well as a handful of local options.
The airport also offers two VIP lounges near the A and B terminals. Both are on the second floor and can be accessed via a prepaid lounge pass or a lounge membership program. Expect to pay at least $50 USD for access.
The VIP lounge near Terminal B offers showers, while the VIP lounge near Terminal A doesn’t. The lounge near Terminal B also offers a swimming pool.

There are a few different ways of getting from the airport to your destination. Bus, taxi, and car rental are all common.
Avis, Hertz, and other major car rental services are available. There are taxi stands at the airport too. Make sure to confirm your rate and destination before accepting a taxi.
Buses run from the airport to Santo Domingo and run every few hours during the day. However, the trip takes about 3 hours.
