Saona Island in one day. The starfish pool. The white sand. The catamaran party home.

The most iconic Caribbean day trip — and the one most people wish they'd booked earlier. Hotel pickup from every Punta Cana and Bávaro hotel included. Open bar and Dominican buffet lunch included.

What you will experience

Natural Pool — Starfish in the Wild

A shallow sandbar rising from the middle of the Caribbean Sea. Crystal-clear water up to your waist. Dozens of starfish living in their natural habitat. This is the photo every Saona Island visitor takes home.

Saona Island Beach

20 miles of white sand and coconut palms. Turquoise water so clear you can see the bottom from the shore. Relax, swim, or simply stand there and realize this is exactly what you imagined the Caribbean to be.

Catamaran Party Boat

The return trip to Bayahibe on a giant catamaran with live Caribbean music, open bar, and dance animation. Nobody sits still on the way back. It's the party you didn't know was part of the plan.

Speedboat to the Island

Race across Caribbean waters on a high-speed speedboat along the coastline of Parque Nacional del Este. The journey to Saona Island is part of the experience — not just the transfer.

Dominican Buffet Lunch

Grilled fish, BBQ chicken, pork chops, pasta, salads, tropical fruit, and a shot of Mamajuana — the traditional Dominican herbal rum drink. Eaten with your feet practically in the sand.

Catuano Canal & Mangroves

A brief, stunning stop through protected mangrove forests and canals teeming with seabirds. A moment of silence between the speedboat energy and the island paradise ahead.

Before you go

Tips for a smoother day

Bring reef-safe sunscreen

You'll be in the water for several hours. The natural pool and Saona Island beach are exposed to full sun. Reef-safe or mineral sunscreen protects both you and the marine ecosystem. Regular chemical sunscreen may be restricted in the natural pool area.

Pack a waterproof phone case or camera

The natural pool — with starfish in crystal-clear shallow water — is the most photographed moment of the entire tour. A waterproof case means you don't have to choose between experiencing it and capturing it.

Wear your swimsuit under your clothes

You'll be in and out of the water all day — natural pool, snorkeling, and the island beach. Wearing your swimsuit from the start means no changing rooms, no delays, just more time in the water.

Bring $20–30 USD cash

Souvenirs, locker rental, and personal extras at the island are not included. The island has local vendors and small shops. Card payment is not available on the island — cash only.

Leave valuables at the hotel

You'll be on boats and beaches all day. The tour operator recommends leaving passports, expensive jewelry, and non-waterproof electronics at your hotel. A waterproof bag or case is your best travel companion today.

Saona Island is only there if you go.

Most visitors see Saona Island in photos from other people's trips. The ones who book it call it the highlight of their entire Dominican Republic vacation. Spots fill fast — especially for hotel pickup slots in high season.
